I'm an Alien!
Well here I am in Japan at last! My last few days in England were naturally very hectic and I had many packing related panic attacks but finally I was able to get most of what I would need down to a small enough pile. Ended up having to carry my winter coat with its pocket full of bits and pieces through security so that my carry on bag was small enough to pass muster but I was able to transfer it to my checked bag once I arrived so that it was sent on to Kakogawa with all the other things I wouldn't need during the training week.
I spent all of last week in training in Osaka (the picture was taken at Osaka Castle on our only day off) and having heard some horror stories about it I was prepared for the worst. However I actually ended up really enjoying it. I'm sure it helped that our group (just three of us) got along really well and had a good time together. I arrived in Kakogawa on Saturday. Everyone at the school is really nice and we had a big party that night to say hello to me and goodbye to the departing teacher. There was of course, much food, laughter and karaoke!
I'm finding the weather pretty humid but it's not unbearable and of course most places are airconditioned. Actually I am not sure that I think that makes it better, every time you have to step back outside the weather feels twice as bad!
I've done quite a bit of necessity shopping, well I consider an elephant clock a necessity even if no one else does... and have had great fun shopping by picture. The only time this totally failed was when it came to buying a new toothbrush, I could see that they were all toothbrushes, what I couldn't tell was whether they were soft or not. Luckily I have a nice head teacher who went to the shops with me today after we'd finished registering for my Alien Registration Card, that's right, it's now official!
Anyway the aforementioned clock is telling me it's bedtime!
